Greater Manchester Announces $153 Million Cycling Project

Greater Manchester is the third largest urban area in the UK with approximately 2.8 million residents. It is also the home of former champion cyclist Chris Boardman who has been the city’s ‘Cycling Commissioner’ and most prominent cycling advocate for many years.

The project announced on 1st October 2020 by Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham will be built by Christmas 2021 and include 88 kilometres of protected cycle lands and 140 new crossings. There will be an additional 40 kilometres of temporary infrastructure that could be made permanent depending upon usage and backlash.
