Beam Extension for Adelaide Coastal Councils

Adelaide, SA

Three coastal councils in Adelaide have extended their partnership with Beam to provide scooter-share services until the end of October.

The six-month extension for the exclusive permit, to operate in the cities of Port Adelaide Enfield, Charles Sturt and West Torrens, comes as data shows a steady increase in the distances travelled by Adelaide users.

The data shows a year-on-year increase of 28% in the average length of trips, indicating riders are travelling farther, and for around 15% longer.

Similarly, Beam’s services in the inner-city areas of Norwood Payneham and St Peters have experienced month-on-month increases in trips by 20%, along with a 25% increase in journeys from the suburbs into the CBD.

Beam’s general manager for Australia and NZ, Tom Cooper, said the company is aiming to expand its operating area in Adelaide’s west in the coming months.
