Beam Mobility CEO Shares Remarkable Story
Just five years ago, Beam Mobility established operations in Australia. Today it operates bike and scooter share schemes in 38 locations across Australia and New Zealand and employs a team of approximately 400 people.
Throughout that time, Tom Cooper has been Australia New Zealand General Manager of Beam. In our second Micromobility Report Podcast, we talked to Tom about the remarkable growth rate of both Beam and the bike and scooter share segment more generally.
Tom talks about new technologies that are helping to power this rise, but also some of the challenges share scheme operators face, particularly in relation to government acceptance.
He also looks to the future and the vast potential for further growth of the sector, both in terms of opportunities, such as the Brisbane Olympics, and current restraints such as the need for mor safe, separated infrastructure.
Tom’s interview is the second in our new Micromobility Report Podcast Series. The first was with Irene and Philip McAleese from sensor and data technology pioneers See.Sense.
Irene is now co-hosting the podcast. In August we’ll be releasing our third interview which is with Melinda Hanson, an amazing micromobility leader from New York City whose work has spanned the corporate, consulting, government and charitable sectors.
We’re planning to release one new interview per month. You can make sure that you don’t miss an episode by subscribing to the Micromobility Report Podcast here. It’s free!
