Camper Conversion Specialist Releases Cargo Bike Version

German company SpaceCamper has collaborated with Riese&Müller knowhow to create a cargo bike with a built-in tent.

SpaceCamper has been converting vans into luxury campers since Ben Warwa founded the company in 2005 with Markus Riese, who also co-founded and owns the bicycle manufacturer Riese&Müller.

It seems inevitable their innovations in camper conversions would stray towards a two-wheel variant, and the duo has chosen the Riese&Müller Load75 e-cargo bike as the platform.

The converted e-cargo bike includes a bed, worktable and a tent roof that can be erected in five minutes.

The tent tarp and its rods are mounted directly on the bike – without pegs or tensioning ropes – so it can be assembled and dismantled quickly.

Similarly, the bed is attached to the bike, so the rider is elevated off the ground, and can be adjusted to serve as a chair during the day.

It can be used in combination with the tabletop, which attached to the bike’s folding handbars.

The Load has full suspension and has the option of mountain bike tyres for off-road adventures. It is powered by a Bosch mid-engine with an optional 1000 watt-hours dual battery and an electronically controllable Rohloff 14-speed hub and belt drive.

SpaceCamper says its converted Load is designed “for digital nomads, leisure-hungry city dwellers, bike travellers and everyone else looking for the right work-life balance”.

The two-wheeler SpaceCamper was unveiled at the CMT camper and travel show in Stuttgart last month and is expected to go on sale in Europe in mid 2023.
