Cycling Luminary Awards Invite Nominations
Canberra, ACT
Nominations are open for this year’s We Ride Australia Cycling Luminaries Awards, which will be announced at a gala dinner in Canberra on 15th November.
The awards have been held for over 20 years to shine a spotlight on the people, places and programs that are getting more people riding throughout Australia.
“The awards have consistently recognised the incredible diversity of cycling programs and unsung heroes, and this is our chance to celebrate those people and promote progress in bike riding over the last 12 months,” We Ride executive officer Peter Bourke said.
Nominations close on 12th September at 5pm, with the awards ceremony to be conducted at Parliament House, coinciding with the launch of the 2023 WeRide National Cycling Economy Report.
Taking Accessible Bikes to Parliament
We Ride last week teamed with the Parliamentary Friends of Cycling group to take accessible bikes and trikes to Parliament House in Canberra.
The breakfast event introduced Federal politicians, including the shadow spokesperson for the NDIS, Michael Sukkar, to the latest e-assist bikes and trikes.
Industry members including Richard and Andrea Herklots who are the owners of Brisbane’s EveryBody eBikes, and the National Inclusive Transport Advocacy Network were given the opportunity to address the gathering.
